I was really happy with my Steelcase Gesture when I first got it. The build felt rock solid, the adjustments were smooth, and it gave off that “this thing will last forever” vibe. The only thing that felt a little off from day one was the seat cushion. It always seemed thinner and firmer than I expected for a chair in this price range, but it wasn’t uncomfortable enough to make a fuss about.Fast‑forward about four years, and that cushion has turned into a real problem. The foam has compressed so much that sitting for long stretches is genuinely uncomfortable. This chair is the first time I decided to spend serious money for an office chair, and this is the most uncomfortable chair I had in my 25 years working in an office. My old 300 dlls chair is way more comfortable and durable.Not worth the money.

Let me start by saying that I spent ages researching chairs before I finally bought the Steelcase Gesture. I was originally planning to get a Herman Miller Aeron Remastered, but after seeing several video reviews of both chairs, decided my memory of the Aeron was probably flawed and biased. With that, I added other brands to the list of candidates. Steelcase, of course, was a top contender; even with the hefty price tags.When it came down to it, I chose the Gesture for its “configurability,” if you will. I also required a decent headrest and hard floor casters—two things the Gesture has as options.I spend the majority of my day “tasking,” but I also have moments of pondering and waiting. In these various states, I will sit different ways. With “normal” chairs, there’s just a bit too much …

The chair is awesome so far. Had it for a few weeks and already feel difference on my back and shoulders. Like anything new, it takes a but getting used to. I chose the headrest and im glad i did. I love being able to lean back when im just on a call or just browsing the web in my office. I work long hours and it supports by back when im writing, but also moves with me when I switch to other tasks. I see people complain about the forward push, but i didn’t experience that issue. I mean it’s supposed to support you, so I expect the chair to do a little pushing back. Wish it had a more deeper lumbar support to also provide a stretch, but very good overall. Also, the seat is not thick, but comfortable.

I knew I wanted a nice office chair for WFH during the pandemic, and my search eventually led me here. I'm going to include all the information I wish I could have found when I was doing my research haha.First, the other chairs I was considering were the Steelcase Leap V2, the Herman-Miller Aeron, and the Herman-Miller Embody. I was able to try all three in-person locally, but there were no Gestures for me to test drive. I took a bit of a gamble on this chair buying it blind (...and truth be told, was planning on returning it if I did not like it better than the other three), but it paid off! I did not like the mesh material of the Aeron at all, and the Embody was waaaay too expensive compared to the Gesture (and was, at best, only just as good, IMO). The Leap V2 was also very, very good,

I was initially dubious that a $1300 chair was worth the cost but my wife talked me into purchasing it. My previous desk chair was a soft, fake leather pedestal chair that was too short for my desk. I got it used and the very thin fake leather was flaking off. This Steelcase chair is great. The seat is firm and comfortable. The chair is remarkably and effectively adjustable. The arm supports are adjustable in three dimensions. The recline function has 3 recline positions AND micro adjustments within those 3 settings. The seat can be adjusted up and down and also to the front and back. It is an extremely comfortable chair. I've only had the chair for about 3 months but I expect it to be durable over many years.

This is a great chair. I have had one for a week now and so far its amazing. Everything i could of asked for in a chair. very comfy when configured to your liking. lets see how it holds up till next week.Update: So its been a few weeks and the chair is still absolutely amazing. Everything i could of wanted and more.The compression has not changed the seat is still comfy and has not flatten into nothing after a week., Well worth it as it has already lasted longer then my last chair that went flat after a week and felt like i was sitting on steelUpdated to 5 starsUpdate 3 years in.I still stand by everything I said above.The Chair is still amazing and looks like new.Best investment in a chair.

Due to the cost of the chair I contacted the seller with numerous questions. Their response was quick and well informed. I asked for the platinum back on my chair which they did. Shipping took about a week (partially due to an issue with the label at FedEx.The chair came fully assembled and with covers on the armsTo the chair:Very comfortable once adjusted. The Lumbar is really a slider that allows you to move a slight (but invisible) “budge” up and down. It would be nice if it could go down just a little lower, but I’m short and it’s still very comfortable. The head rest was worth the extra cost. The angle and height can be adjusted and I like it very much.The arms are great, easy to move and adjust with a great range of options. The arm angle is stiff enough not to move on their own. …
