Palatino Arco para violín Brazilwood 4/4

Acceptable replacement violin bow for adult beginner. We prefer this one to the Breton.

I am an intermediate fiddler on a tight budget and I believe that these bows are great for beginner and intermediate players. The first replacement bow I bought was about $40 dollars and is made by "A. Breton." This bow was of very poor quality for that price, and was haired improperly, and then it snapped in multiple places during the rehairing. At that point I didn't want to invest too much more until I had the money to buy a significantly better bow, so I ordered two of these just to give them a shot, and man was I surprised. While these certainly aren't professional quality, they are perfect for me. With hex shafts, and imitation whale bone wrapping, and ebony frogs, they suit my taste fine, and they both came in good shape (Straight and with proper camber, and they were haired …

First of all, the bow is not wrapped with wire; it is wrapped with plastic. Yes, it is only $10, but it should look like the picture. Also, it has only been a couple of weeks and most of the hair has fallen out. It's a pretty bow, but it fell apart quickly.

We attended a concert by Joshua bell and my woman said that a man should play a woman like Mr. Bell played his violin. She said that it looked like he was making love to that instrument at times. I asked her if she would like to feel a violin bow on her body. She said that she would - and I ordered the bow that night without her knowing so.She has agreed to wear nothing but a blindfold tomorrow night so that I can surprise her. This same product is sold in the local music stores at fifty dollars! I don't think they like it when I tell them where and how much I purchased mine. But then, they probably did too, and are just sticking the unwary purchaser! This bow arrived on time, packaged very well, and in great shape. I use this bow on my Gibson Custom Les Paul, I had a show to do that weekend and believe me, that bow made the show!! Nothing like three hundred people cheering for your performance ( 3000 would been better) lol. For what I use it for, perfect.

I purchased this, and one other budget friendly bow on amazon. I like them both, they were both lightweight, nicely balanced, and came in excellent condition.I had a fiberglass bow that came with my violin and that thing is heavy and I don't like the balance point. I also need to crank the tension on it quite a bit, whereas the two wood bows I just purchased I only need to tighten about half as much as the fiberglass. They sound fairly close to each other.That said, I'm a beginner and I'm still learning. The balance point is much nicer than the fiberglass. I'm able to control this bow better on the strings. Because the fiberglass one is so heavy and it doesn't like my hand, it goes all over the place. The other wood bow is better, but this one is pretty good too. It goes where I want it …

Well-made and sturdy. Lost some hair at the start, but retains enough to do its job. Good balance. A good fiddler's bow.

I read the reviews and they seemed pretty good so I took a chance for buying this 4/4 bow for a beginner violin and when I opened the box, it was not secured in the box the bow came in and loose rattling around, when I took it out the bow is warped and looks like an archery bow instead of a violin bow. I am returning the item, I'll be better off returning than wasting my time if I got a replacement and waiting a few more days to return again and replace if it came damaged again.
